Mira Costa College in Carlsbad, California, offers a Phlebotomy Technician Program in partnership with PhlebotomyU. This program is designed for individuals who wish to enter the medical field as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician 1 (CPT1).
The program includes a minimum of 80 hours of classroom instruction, with 20 hours dedicated to basic phlebotomy, 20 hours to advanced phlebotomy, and 40 hours to a laboratory course in applied phlebotomy. Upon completion of the course, students will be eligible to take the certification examination offered by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) in class. Successful completion of the course will result in the issuance of a state-approved training certificate.
Job placement assistance and PAID internships are currently available to all students of the course. The program is also approved for funding by GI Bill, Sallie Mae and WIOA.
It is important to note that there is a $100 California CPT 1 License Application fee that is not included in the tuition fee and must be paid by the student. In addition, students must have a high school diploma or GED and the BLS Certification and all immunization are also not included in the tuition fee and must be paid by the student.
