Course Objectives
After completing this course, the student is expected to:
- Identify the components of blood
- Know the role of erythropoiesis in RBC production
- Describe the basic structures of the RBC, the cell membrane, and hemoglobin
- Understand the role of the Na+– K+ pump in maintaining cell integrity
- Know the role of hemoglobin give examples of hemoglobin abnormalities
- Explain the process of gas exchange between blood and the cells
- Understand the role and effects of hemolysis
